Foreclosure Attorney Facing Loss of California Law License

One California lawyer became famous for telling his clients to break into their homes and squat in foreclosed properties. After refusing to participate in the California Bar Association’s disciplinary proceedings against him, Michael T. Pines faces losing the ability to practice law in the state. Though Pines maintains that the vast majority of these foreclosures have been illegal, California Supreme Court officials say he will most likely be disbarred. In several cases, Pines was alleged to have accompanied owners to the properties with a locksmith, and to have repeatedly violated court orders to stay away from the properties.
